Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some of the most common questions we hear. If you don't see what you're looking for, please send us a message in the submission box below.
My tire is flat. I tried to inflate it, but it won't hold air. What should I do?
It sounds like you need a new inner tube. We're happy to help. Bring your bike in - this is the kind of repair we can do on the spot! Want to learn how to fix a flat tire and other small repairs yourself? Check our Community page for our next free monthly bike maintenance clinic. See videos from past clinics (including how to fix a flat) on our Facebook page.
My bike needs a tune up. Do I need to make an appointment?
If you need your bike to be ready on a certain day, make an appointment in advance by calling us or book a tune up online! Not in a rush? You can bring your bike to the shop anytime and expect it back within a few days.
I'm not sure what my bike needs. How much would it cost to fix it?
It is always best to bring your bike to the shop so we can see what it needs. Estimates are always free, and we promise honest, competitive pricing on all repairs.
I bought a bike online/from Costco. Should I build it myself?
At Bethany Bike Repair, we value bike safety. Unless you are a bike professional, we do not recommend building your own bike. Building a bike is not like building Ikea furniture -- it requires special tools and experience to ensure that the bike runs safely and smoothly. Let us assemble it for you. We'll make sure it runs like a new bike should!
Why should I get my child a balance bike instead of training wheels?
Balance bikes -- bikes without pedals -- are the best way to teach your youngster to ride a bike! With a balance bike, your child will learn to balance and steer properly. Training wheels prolong the learning process by causing the rider to lean the wrong way when turning. Check out our Balance Bike page to learn more!
Do you sell bikes?
We do! We carry Sun Bicycles as well as KHS Bikes. We have a small selection in-store, and we are able to order any model from Sun & KHS. We also stock Kinderbike balance bikes, Chilli Pro Scooters, and refurbished bicycles. Check out our bike page for more info.
Should I buy my next bicycle online or at a bike shop?
There are many advantages to buying your bike at a bike shop. At a bike shop, you'll get professional help in finding the right fit for your size and bike needs. You can trust that your bike has been assembled by a professional and is safe to ride. Your local bike shop can help you accessorize your new bike and will often cover adjustments and tuning for a while after your purchase. Bike shops carry higher quality bicycles compared to amazon and department stores. This means spending less time and money on repairs and more time enjoying your bike! If you want to get a bike on a budget, one of the best options is to go for a good quality used bike. We often have used bikes in stock at Bethany Bike Repair. If you do buy a bike online, it's best to have it assembled by a professional. We're happy to assemble it for you!
